How old do you have to be to go to space?

How old do you have to be to go to space? The answer to this question is there is no age limit.

There is no age limit to go to space, anyone of any age can go to space once he or she is an astronaut. Astronauts are known to be professionals to travel to outer space with their respective space crafts. There is literally no age limit to go to space, except you are old enough to become an astronaut.

An astronaut is only capable of going to space and you should be an astronaut too to go to space. Becoming an astronaut again don't have a specific age limit.

The degrees and all the educational qualifications required to become an astronaut also don't have any specified age limits. So, you need to have some certain degrees to apply and become an astronaut.

According to the National Aeronautics of Space Administration (NASA), an aspiring astronaut is required to have a masters degree. It can be in any field including science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

These four particular fields are also known as STEM. A person who wants to become an astronaut is required to have a master's degree in any one of them.

So, it is concluded that you have to be at least the age at which you can pursue your master's degree. You are required to have a master's degree in any one of the mentioned fields.

Plus you are also required to have at least two years of relevant pro-experience in that particular field. And you are also required to have at least 1000 hours of pilot experience in a jet aircraft.

Travelling in space is not that easy, you are required to have sufficient knowledge about the astronaut suit and the spacecraft you are travelling in.

You are required to be a trained and experienced pilot to go to space. People who have already served the airforce can easily become an astronaut once they also have a master's degree in any one field of STEM.

So, the age limit is clear from the above lines. It is simply the age you are done with your bachelor's degree and are capable of pursuing the master's degree in any of the mentioned fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Apart to become an astronaut in NASA and going to space, you are also required to be a valid citizen of the United States of America. You are required to be a perfect American citizen and should also have all the documentation that proves your citizenship and your identity.

Coming to the physical body requirements, an astronaut aspirant doesn't need to have specific body weight. But he or she is required to be physically fit and fine, extremely fat and obsessed people are not allowed. The person should be of general shape to get fit inside the spacesuit.

Particularly in NASA, to become an astronaut you are required to pass the NASA long-duration flight astronaut physical. Plus your height should lie between 5'2" to 6'3". You should have a 20/20 vision and your blood pressure can't exceed 140/90 while sitting down.

So, it is well concluded that there is no specific age limit to go to space except you are aged enough to become an astronaut.
